Blake and Bolt return to form on different sides of the Irish sea

While an Irish sprinter racked up an impressive time too.

IF YOU DIDN’T make it to the Morton Games in Santry this evening, you missed the joint-second fastest man of all time, Yohan Blake, set a stadium, meeting and Irish all-comers record for the 100m.
10.12 is also a season’s best for the Jamaican who is looking to get back to the kind of form that saw him finish second to compatriot Usain Bolt at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Blake finished ahead of his countrymen Michael Frater and Mario Forsythe in 10.27 and 10.30 while Marcus Lawler was the best of the Irish in fourth spot. His 10.47 was a season’s best.

Elsewhere, Usain Bolt won the men’s 100m at the Anniversary Games in London.

The world record holder looked back to something like his best in running 9.87 while slowing down in his heat and matched that season’s best to win the final.

However, they were two very different races as the Jamaican had to overcome an horrific start in the decider, hauling himself from sixth at 50m to win.
